While you are traveling north on the ICW or if you are visiting
Treasure Island for the day, take a detour through John's Pass and
tie up to Gator's Café & Saloon. The boat traffic is usually quite
heavy, but it's well worth it. It's hard to miss and the food and
drink selections are hard to beat.
Gators is home of the "Worlds Longest Waterfront Bar", located at the
Kingfish Wharf in Treasure Island. Gator's is donned with a nice
flavor of University of Florida décor and some great combinations of
Florida wildlife. If you don't mind viewing the different, and might I add rare, varieties of the Florida alligator, such as the swordfish-gator and sheep-gator, while you dine.
Gator's also offers some great live bands and drink specials for a
nice break on your journey. They have dock space available if you get
there at the right time…it tends to be quite busy usually. They even
have assistance on hand to help you tie up quickly or to direct you to
their other docking area just a short distance down the Pass.
